On Sunday, Hatzoloh EMS of Rockland – Monsey District conducted an intensive partial building collapse training exercise for its Basic Life Support (BLS) EMT members, aimed at sharpening skills for complex, high-pressure rescue situations.
The drill simulated a multi-casualty incident with numerous patients suffering varying levels of injuries. EMTs practiced rapid triage, patient packaging, and coordinated removals from a compromised structure, utilizing real ambulances to replicate real-life emergency conditions. The focus was on speed, clear communication, and seamless teamwork—ensuring patients were stabilized and transported swiftly, just as they would be during an actual emergency.
Following the hands-on exercise, members then headed to the Monsey Hatzoloh garage, where they conducted a structured debrief, reviewed key takeaways, and discussed lessons learned from the drill. The post-training review helped crews fine-tune protocols and reinforce best practices, further strengthening readiness to respond decisively when every second counts.
Today’s training, including the construction setup used for the building collapse drill, was sponsored by Solidify Concrete, with special thanks to Shloime Stern.
