Hatzoloh EMS of Rockland County honored outgoing Clarkstown Police Chief Jeffrey Wanamaker, recognizing nearly four decades of dedicated service as he prepares to retire from the department.
A gathering was held at the Clarkstown Police Department, where a plaque was presented to Chief Wanamaker in appreciation of his leadership and longstanding partnership with Hatzoloh and other responding agencies.
The plaque was presented by Rockland Hatzoloh Captain Abe Rosenberg on behalf of the organization, thanking the Chief for years of cooperation and support.
Wanamaker, who is concluding a 39-year career that began in 1987, expressed appreciation to the community and Hatzoloh, noting that his focus throughout his tenure was always the safety and well-being of Clarkstown residents. He also voiced confidence in the department’s future leadership.
As previously reported, the Town of Clarkstown has appointed Captain James S. Fay Jr. as the next Chief of Police, effective April 24, 2026. Fay, a 32-year veteran of the department, will take over as Wanamaker formally retires later this month.
Fay reflected on his long-standing relationship with Wanamaker, noting that Wanamaker served as his first training officer decades ago and calling it an honor to see him conclude such a distinguished career. He also expressed appreciation for Hatzoloh’s recognition of the outgoing Chief.
Wanamaker’s retirement marks the end of a career that saw him rise through every rank within the department, ultimately leading the agency since 2021. He leaves behind a legacy of strong leadership, community policing, and close coordination with emergency responders throughout Rockland County.
