On Sunday, the Community Outreach Center in Monsey held a groundbreaking ceremony to officially launch the construction of its new expansion project, made possible through $1.6 million in federal funding secured by Congressman Mike Lawler.
The funding milestone was first announced at a luncheon on September 16, 2024, and reported by Monsey Scoop.
Sunday’s event drew a large turnout of local officials, including New York State Senator Bill Weber, Rockland County District Attorney Tom Walsh, Ramapo Town Supervisor Michael Specht, a representative from Assemblyman Aaron Wieder’s office, and other village and municipal leaders.
Rabbi Hersh Horowitz, Executive Director of the Community Outreach Center, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the widespread support behind the project. “I want to personally thank Congressman Mike Lawler for securing the $1.6 million in federal funding that made this expansion possible,” Rabbi Horowitz told Monsey Scoop. “I also want to thank all the town and local officials who stand with us. This is what unity looks like—when we work together to build a better future for our entire community.”
The new addition will significantly expand the center’s ability to serve Monsey’s rapidly growing population with enhanced programming and community resources.
