Forshay Kehilla to Hold Evening Event Tonight Marking Five-Year Anniversary of Chanukah Attack

The Forshay Kehilla will hold a meaningful event tonight at Ateres Charna Hall, commemorating the tragic Monsey stabbing attack that occurred during Chanukah five years ago.

The attack, perpetrated by Grafton Thomas, shocked the community when he stormed into a Chanukah celebration at the Forshay Rebbe’s home armed with a machete. Several individuals were injured, including R’ Yosef Neumann, hy”d, who tragically succumbed to his injuries months later.

In a statement, the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office reflected on the anniversary, saying, “Today marks five years since the horrific stabbing attack during a Chanukah celebration in Monsey. We must never forget the heroic actions of Josef Gluck, who confronted the alleged attacker and saved many from injury or death, and the memory of Josef Neumann, who lost his life due to the injuries he suffered on that tragic night.”
