Former New York State Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick recently visited the Village of Wesley Hills alongside Mayor Marshall Katz to review the completion of two community improvement projects that were made possible through grant funding secured during his time in office.
The first project involved a $55,000 grant that was used to upgrade and renovate the Village Hall, making it more accessible to residents. As part of the renovations, a new customer service window was installed, significantly enhancing the village’s ability to serve its residents. Reichlin-Melnick and Mayor Katz were photographed inside the newly arranged Village Hall, showcasing the improvements that have already been well-received by the community.
In addition, a $100,000 grant was secured to install pedestrian lighting along a path connecting Arcadian Drive and Sherry Lane. The path now features LED lighting, providing a safer route for residents, particularly on Shabbos and during evening hours. Alongside the lighting installation, the landscaping along Sherry Lane has been enhanced, further beautifying the area for the community’s enjoyment.
Though Reichlin-Melnick is no longer in office, he expressed pride in seeing the completion of these projects, which were funded through the SAM and CREST grant programs administered by his office. A video captured during the visit highlights Mayor Katz’s gratitude for the improvements, particularly the pedestrian path, which has significantly benefited residents by providing a well-lit and safe connection between neighborhoods.
Both projects represent meaningful investments in Wesley Hills’ infrastructure, enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
