Former New York State Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick recently participated in an exclusive ride-along with Chaverim of Rockland, joining their daily patrol to observe traffic patterns in Ramapo and surrounding areas as Yom Tov Sukkos approaches. The goal of the tour was to assess ways to ease traffic congestion, especially in neighborhoods where residents have raised concerns about increasing delays.
During the tour, Reichlin-Melnick accompanied Chaverim member Yossi Kolman (CR-143) as they responded to several service calls. These included assisting a driver whose car required a boost and attending to a vehicle lockout. Each situation was quickly resolved, demonstrating the essential services Chaverim provides to the community on a daily basis.
Following the patrol, Reichlin-Melnick expressed his appreciation for the outstanding work Chaverim does for local residents. After speaking with one of the organization coordinator’s Yossi Margeratten, he pledged his ongoing support for strengthening community ties and backing local nonprofits. He emphasized that, if re-elected, he would advocate for resources that enable groups like Chaverim to continue their important work, benefiting all citizens of Rockland County and beyond.
