Former Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick visited Skyscraper Insurance headquarters in Spring Valley earlier this week as he continues visiting local businesses and community institutions. Reichlin-Melnick sat down for a conversation with the owner, Chaim Berkowitz and members of his team. Reichlin-Melnick expressed his admiration for the successful business that Berkowitz has created, one that provides high quality and affordable insurance for businesses and residents throughout the area.
Berkowitz shared with Reichlin-Melnick his desire for programs to help people who have served time in prison for non-violent crimes get a fair chance at succeeding after spending time in prison. Many ex-offenders have a difficult time finding employment, and not having an income or steady job often leads to them reoffending and getting stuck in a life of crime. “I found Elijah Reichlin-Melnick to be extremely humble and very relatable,” Chaim Berkowitz said. “He’s very focused on the issues that matter to families and individuals in this district. I’m confident that he is someone who really cares and will represent us well. “
Reichlin-Melnick noted that the location of the building, at the corner of North Main Street and W Eckerson Road, is the epitome of the melting pot that Rockland County is, with people of all different walks of life and races working and living together. He promised to continue fairly representing all the residents of Rockland county, regardless of race, nationality or background.
