Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced today that John Kezek, a former Rockland Corrections Officer, has been sentenced after pleading guilty to Tampering with Public Records in the First Degree and Official Misconduct. Kezek, 39, now residing in Knoxville, Tennessee, and formerly of Florida, NY, was sentenced on December 19, 2024, by the Honorable Robert J. Prisco.
Kezek admitted to falsifying records maintained by the Rockland County Correctional Facility and exposing himself to a female inmate during his tenure as a Corrections Officer in 2019. These actions constituted a breach of his professional responsibilities and violated the trust placed in him.
District Attorney Tom Walsh addressed the seriousness of the offenses, stating:
“As a Corrections Officer, the defendant was entrusted with the responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of those in his care. The courage shown by the incarcerated women who reported this misconduct is commendable and sends a strong message that mistreatment of prisoners will not be tolerated in Rockland County.”
Walsh also emphasized that Kezek’s actions do not reflect the values or professionalism of the Rockland County Corrections Division, praising the dedication of the officers who uphold justice daily.
The case was investigated by the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Special Investigations Unit and the Special Victims Unit.
As part of his sentence, Kezek will serve five years of probation with specific conditions related to drug and alcohol use. An order of protection has also been issued to safeguard the victim involved in the case.
