Firefighters from Multiple Departments Respond to Early Morning Machine Fire at Aluf Plastics in Orangeburg

Early this morning, the Orangeburg Fire Department, along with Blauvelt and Pearl River Fire Departments, were dispatched to Aluf Plastics following an automatic alarm. The Orangeburg FD Chief was first to arrive on the scene and, upon establishing command, was informed by an on-site employee of a machine fire inside the building. A FAST team from Piermont FD was requested to complete the working fire assignment.

Orangeburg and Blauvelt fire trucks arrived simultaneously, swiftly stretching a hose line approximately 400 feet into the building while securing a water supply. Mutual aid teams assisted with checking for fire extension and ventilation.

Additional mutual aid was provided by the Pearl River, Sparkill-Palisades, Central Nyack, and Tappan Fire Departments. Mahwah FD contributed a fan boat for additional support, and SOAC (South Orangetown Ambulance Corps) was on standby for EMS assistance.

  1. Thank you to the Orangeburg, Blauvelt, Pearl River, Sparkill-Palisades, Central Nyack, and Tappan Fire Departments, who responded to an early morning fire at Aluf Plastics on Sunday, October 6th. Although the fire was limited to a single piece of equipment and extinguished prior to first responders arrival on the scene, they took swift action and came in to ensure there was no more cause for concern.

The fire caused a lot of smoke and very minor damage. Fortunately, there were no injuries, however the South Orangetown Ambulance Corp was on standby to offer assistance, if needed. Production resumed the same day.

Aluf Plastics extends great thanks to the various Fire Departments who responded quickly to the emergency call and to all concerned citizens of Monsey.
