Residents of the East Ramapo Central School District are heading to the polls today, Tuesday, May 6, 2025, to vote on the Finkelstein Memorial Library’s proposed 2025–2026 budget and to elect four new trustees to the board.
Voting is taking place from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM in the Fielding Room on the third floor of the library, located at 24 Chestnut Street in Spring Valley.
This year’s ballot includes approval of the annual budget and the election of four trustees. The expanded number of seats is due to a combination of resignations and recent legal changes affecting the board’s structure.
Six candidates are running for the open trustee positions:

Esther Waldman, a longtime Orthodox Jewish educator and Title I Director in New Square, known for her dedication to student literacy;

Yossi Rubinstein, CEO of Rubinstein & Co. and founder of the Yizkor Foundation, with experience in publishing and Holocaust education.

Goldie Golding, a professor, children’s author, and expert in educational psychology;

Yehudis Gottesfeld, a Chemical Environmental Engineer with degrees from City College and Columbia University, focused on bringing a fresh voice to the board;

Kusar Asghar, a local resident and mother of four with a passion for lifelong learning;

Sharon McIntyre, a retired Occupational Therapist Assistant and active community volunteer.
Only residents registered within the East Ramapo Central School District are eligible to vote. Absentee ballots are also available at the library’s Adult Reference and Circulation desks.
Voters are encouraged to make their voices heard and help shape the future of one of the community’s most vital educational and cultural resources.
