Evergreen Kosher Supermarket has purchased The Kosher Hive, purchasing the store from a bank which seized its assets. The lease of the store’s location itself was taken over from ShopRite, the original owners of the site.
Internal discussions are still underway at Evergreen to determine the best path forward – turning it into a Costco-style wholesale store or a regular supermarket.
Either way, plans are underway to have the store operational just before Rosh Hashana, at the earliest, or right after Sukkos.
The Kosher Hive, which announced its immediate closure after just one year in operation, struggled with severe financial difficulties from the start. Despite initial excitement and anticipation from the community, the store’s financial challenges ultimately led to its demise. In recent days, the supermarket held a clearance sale to liquidate its remaining products, and last night, its doors closed permanently.
A source at Evergreen told Monsey Scoop that further details about Evergreen’s plans for the site are expected to emerge in the coming days.
I hope Evergreen isn’t biting off more than they can chew. This isn’t Newday!
No, this isn’t Newday… This is The Hive!
I guess you didn’t understand me. I was referring to Evergreen taking over Newday years back when a similar thing happened.
Turn it into small business incubator for heimishe people, including food producers who can sell.onsite
It took Evergreen a while to get their Pomona location up and running, but it sure seems to be doing well now.
