Early-Morning Fire Ravages Montvale NJ Ranch Home Near New York State Line, Neighboring Chestnut Ridge

A three-alarm fire heavily damaged a ranch-style home in Montvale early Wednesday morning, near the New York State line and neighboring Chestnut Ridge.

The fire broke out at approximately 8:00 a.m. near the dead-ended north end of Forest Avenue, just over a mile from Pearl River. Firefighters arriving on scene encountered heavy fire conditions, prompting a multi-alarm response.

Fire departments from both Bergen and Rockland counties responded, including the Montvale Fire Department and the Mahwah Fire Department, along with the Pearl River Fire Department and the South Spring Valley Fire Department. Additional mutual aid was provided by the Park Ridge Fire Department and the Woodcliff Lake Fire Department. EMS support was provided by the Tri-Boro Ambulance Corps.

The Montvale Police Department was also on scene assisting with traffic control and securing the area.

Firefighters worked for an extended period to bring the blaze under control. There were no immediate reports of injuries, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
