Nearly 7,000 Rockland Residents Lose Power After Main Failure At Orange & Rockland Facility; Service Fully Restored By Morning

Nearly 7,000 residents across Rockland County lost electricity early Sunday morning after a widespread power outage struck multiple areas at approximately 1:13 a.m.

The outage left thousands of homes and businesses without power throughout the county. While some locations had service restored quickly, many others remained in the dark for a period of time as crews worked to identify and resolve the issue.

According to information obtained by Monsey Scoop, the outage was caused by a failure involving a main component at a local Orange and Rockland Utilities facility, which triggered the widespread loss of electricity.

Orange and Rockland crews worked through the overnight hours to repair the issue and restore service as quickly and safely as possible.

As power began returning to several neighborhoods, multiple transformer fires were reported throughout the area, prompting responses from local emergency services.

As of 6:00 a.m. Sunday morning, power has been fully restored to all affected customers.
