DEVELOPING IN SPRING VALLEY: Possible Homicide Under Investigation at Abandoned Building on Centre Street and Lawrence Street

Authorities are investigating the discovery of a deceased individual in an abandoned building at the intersection of Lawrence Street and Centre Street, prompting a heavy police presence in the area.

At approximately 10 a.m. on Wednesday, a Spring Valley police officer was flagged down at the scene, where the death is now being investigated as a possible homicide. Law enforcement agencies, including the Spring Valley Police Department, the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, and the New York State Police, have responded. The Sheriff’s BCI unit and the medical examiner have also been called in to assist with the investigation.

In a separate but simultaneous incident, the Spring Valley Fire Department and Orange & Rockland Utilities are on-site addressing a reported gas leak at the same location. It remains unclear whether the two incidents are connected. Chevra Kadisha services aren’t needed in this tragic incident.

This is a developing story. Monsey Scoop will update as more information becomes available.
