The Spring Valley Fire District Board of Fire Commissioners voted Tuesday evening to suspend firefighter Joe Morrison for 30 days following its review of the recent social media controversy involving a Hatzoloh EMS of Rockland County paramedic.
The action follows Monsey Scoop’s reporting that Morrison posted a video of a Hatzoloh paramedic whose emergency vehicle was parked in a handicapped space with its emergency lights activated while responding to an unresponsive child inside Costco in Nanuet. Monsey Scoop confirmed that the paramedic was actively rendering emergency medical care at the time the video was recorded.
According to information confirmed to Monsey Scoop, the Board voted to impose a 30-day suspension and is continuing to review the matter, with possible further disciplinary action still under consideration.
William P. Faist Volunteer Ambulance Corps, where Morrison is also a member, has not yet reached a final decision and is still reviewing the matter.
