Congressman Mike Lawler Joins Hudson Valley Leaders To Highlight Over $33 Million In Local Investments

Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) joined municipal leaders from across the Hudson Valley on Tuesday at Clarkstown Town Hall to highlight more than $33 million in federal investments supporting infrastructure, public safety, transportation, and other key community priorities throughout the district.

Officials representing 13 municipalities attended the press conference, where local leaders discussed how the federal funding will help strengthen communities and improve quality of life for residents across the region.

“Residents across the Hudson Valley want the basics to work: safe streets, reliable water infrastructure, and public services that meet the needs of their communities,” said Congressman Lawler. “These investments will support law enforcement, improve water and sewer systems, upgrade roads and sidewalks, and expand transportation options across our district.”

During the congressional appropriations process, Lawler secured funding for several major infrastructure and public safety initiatives, including $4.2 million for police equipment for the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office in Clarkstown and $2.6 million for a new Rockland County Sheriff’s training facility.

Additional projects receiving funding include $4 million for road infrastructure improvements in the Village of New Square, $5 million for the Nanuet Transit-Oriented Development project in Clarkstown, $5 million for sidewalk improvements in the Town of Ramapo, $1.3 million for sidewalks in the Town of Orangetown, and $1 million for Memorial Drive reconstruction in the Village of Suffern.

Water and sewer infrastructure projects were also included in the funding package, such as $2.25 million to replace a water storage tank in the Village of Pleasantville, $1.25 million for a water plant project in the Town of Carmel, $1.25 million for the Hallocks Mill Sewer District extension in the Town of Yorktown, $1.25 million for the Croton Falls sewer project in North Salem, $983,200 for a water main project in the Village of Sleepy Hollow, and $1 million for a water main project in Ossining.

The Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations legislation also included additional New York priorities that Lawler supported, including $1 million for bus transit in the Village of Kaser, $500,000 for Ready Transit services in the Town of Ramapo, and $534,000 for the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival in Garrison.

“These projects were identified by the communities themselves,” Lawler added. “Working together with local leaders, we were able to deliver targeted investments that will strengthen infrastructure, support public safety, and improve quality of life across the Hudson Valley.”

  1. Hey Mike Lawler, why don’t you get on it and get about $80 million for Rockland County so they can fix the freaking roads the right way instead of just keeping putting Band-Aids on everything. All the blacktop needs to be removed and a new gravel base installed i’m almost all the county roads definitely on the west side of the county. I’m not real familiar with the east side but the west side Suffern ,Pomona, Grandview, Montebello, and Airmont all the county roads are in horrible condition. You wanna win reelection make everyone on this side of the county happy.
