Rockland County Representative, Mike Lawler, was honored with the statesmanship award for his exemplary service and dedication to public service at the 45th Annual COJO Of Flatbush breakfast.
The event, held this morning at the Kol Yakov Hall in Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY, brought together esteemed community leaders, and elected officials.
Accompanied by guest Chaim Meisels, a captain who fought in the IDF for the first hundred days, Congressman Lawler was lauded for his outstanding contributions to his district and beyond. In his acceptance speech, Lawler reiterated the United States’ longstanding friendship and alliance with Israel, stating, “The United States was the first government to recognize the State of Israel, that in minutes after its founding, we are its oldest friend. We are its closest ally.”
Lawler emphasized the importance of supporting Israel and its government while rejecting any interference in its affairs. He addressed his colleagues in government, including the Senator Chuck Schumer, who has shockingly become an anti-Israel provocateur in recent weeks, asserting, “We have an obligation to support the State of Israel and its government. We cannot and should not ever tell the Israeli people what to do with their government.”
Furthermore, Lawler highlighted legislative efforts aimed at combating anti-Semitism, including the introduction of the “Stop Anti-Semitism on College Campuses Act,” which seeks to defund institutions of higher learning that promote and sanction anti-Semitic events. He also introduced the “Anti-Semitism Awareness Act,” which would mandate the Department of Education to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) working definition of anti-Semitism.
