Congressman Mike Lawler Highlights $5 Million Investment For Nanuet Transit-Oriented Development {VIDEO}

Congressman Mike Lawler has released a new video highlighting the $5 million in federal funding he secured for the Town of Clarkstown’s Nanuet Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) project, calling it “more than infrastructure” and describing it as an investment in the future of Nanuet.

The funding will support improvements throughout downtown Nanuet, including upgraded sidewalks, lighting, better pedestrian connections, property acquisitions, and other infrastructure designed to create a safer, more walkable, and economically vibrant community.

“This project is about more than infrastructure. It’s about creating a vision for Nanuet’s future,” Lawler said. “That’s why I fought to bring home $5 million for the transit-oriented development project.”

Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann thanked Lawler for securing the federal funding, explaining that the project builds on the town’s long-term vision for transit-oriented development surrounding the Nanuet train station and downtown business district.

“This $5 million will be used to improve connections, acquire properties, improve sidewalks, lighting, and other infrastructure while better connecting the surrounding neighborhoods with downtown Nanuet,” Hoehmann said. “We wouldn’t be able to do this without the influx of federal dollars, and I can’t thank Congressman Lawler enough for his efforts.”

Lawler added that the improvements will enhance public safety, support economic growth, and transform downtown Nanuet into a place where residents and businesses can thrive for generations to come.

As previously reported by Monsey Scoop, the $5 million allocation was secured as part of the Fiscal Year 2026 federal appropriations package advanced by Lawler, which included funding for numerous infrastructure, public safety, and community projects across New York’s 17th Congressional District.
