Congressman Mike Lawler has demanded the removal of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, citing what he calls “political prosecutions” against former President Donald Trump, Marine veteran Daniel Penny, and bodega worker Jose Alba.
In response to Daniel Penny’s recent acquittal, Congressman Lawler expressed relief at the jury’s decision, stating, “The jury righted a tremendous wrong — he never should have been charged in the first place. Daniel Penny has served our country and sought to protect perfect strangers. This is a just verdict.”
Criticizing Bragg’s approach to law enforcement, Lawler added, “Alvin Bragg has failed in his responsibilities to enforce the law and keep New Yorkers safe. Sadly, he has engaged in political prosecutions on numerous cases, including President Trump, Daniel Penny, and Jose Alba. He should be removed from office immediately.”
The call for Bragg’s removal highlights ongoing concerns about the politicization of justice and public safety in New York City.
