Congressman Mike Lawler announced Thursday that more than $12 million in Community Project Funding he requested for the Hudson Valley has been included in the Fiscal Year 2026 federal appropriations package. The funding, which supports critical public safety and water infrastructure projects throughout New York’s 17th Congressional District, was approved as part of the Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment bills, all of which passed the U.S. House of Representatives earlier today.
Despite a delayed start to the fiscal year following a late-2025 shutdown, passage of these measures marks significant progress toward completing all 12 FY26 appropriations bills. Lawler said the approved projects reflect priorities raised by local leaders and residents, emphasizing community safety and reliable infrastructure while maintaining fiscal discipline through bipartisan cooperation.
Among the projects funded are $4.2 million for the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office to purchase law enforcement equipment; $2.25 million for water tank improvements in the Village of Pleasantville; $1.25 million each for sewer installations or expansions in the Towns of North Salem, Yorktown, and Carmel; $1 million for water distribution upgrades in the Town of Ossining; and $983,200 for a water main lining project in the Village of Sleepy Hollow.
Lawler also highlighted broader provisions in the legislation, including increased funding for the Drug Enforcement Administration to combat the fentanyl epidemic, expanded support for law enforcement programs, investments in public lands and wildland firefighting, full funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund, and major allocations toward American energy initiatives and modernization of the nation’s nuclear infrastructure.
The appropriations package now moves to the U.S. Senate for consideration.

Will this have the same bitter end as last year…
