Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) has reintroduced the IVF Access and Affordability Act, a bill aimed at easing the financial burden of in vitro fertilization (IVF) and other assisted reproductive technologies for families in New York and across the country.
The proposed legislation would provide a tax credit of up to $20,000 for individuals and $40,000 for couples filing jointly, making fertility treatments more accessible for those struggling with infertility.
“Too many families in New York and across the country struggle with the financial burden of fertility treatments,” said Congressman Lawler. “IVF and other fertility services should never feel out of reach for those who dream of having children.”
Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America, voiced strong support for the bill, highlighting its impact on Jewish families and others facing infertility challenges.
“Too many families, including many Jewish families, face infertility in their journey toward parenthood,” said Hadassah National President Carol Ann Schwartz. “We commend Representative Lawler for introducing legislation that alleviates the burden of costly and difficult infertility treatments for American families.”
Lawler emphasized that expanding access to IVF could be life-changing for many, stating, “For those struggling with infertility, access to IVF can make all the difference. This legislation is about ensuring that every family who wants to have children has the opportunity to do so, without being priced out of care.”
The bill’s reintroduction comes amid growing national discussions on fertility treatment access and affordability, with advocates calling for more comprehensive support for families seeking reproductive assistance.
