Today, Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) released the following statement after reports that Iran had launched a wave of drones towards Israel from within Iran itself. This direct assault represents a serious escalation in the conflict between Israel and Hamas and Hezbollah.
“Enough is enough – the Biden administration must take concrete steps to support Israel, our closest ally,” said Congressman Lawler. “This direct Iranian attack, after the regime has consistently used its proxies, warrants immediate U.S. action to back any Israeli response.”
“In Congress, we must take action as well. Speaker Johnson must bring forward a supplemental package of aid for Israel in order to support them in their time of need. And Leader Schumer must pass the SHIP Act so we can cut off Iran’s terror funding at the source of it – their illicit oil trade,” concluded Congressman Lawler. “Israel is now under attack by Iran, and it’s well past time for the Biden administration to stop playing footsie with the Ayatollah’s terror regime and hold them accountable for their deadly actions.”
