COMMUTER ALERT: Montvale’s James Gandolfini Service Area Reopens After Renovations

After more than a year of closure for extensive renovations, the James Gandolfini Service Area on the Garden State Parkway in Montvale, New Jersery right near Chestnut Ridge has officially reopened, restoring a vital rest stop for commuters and travelers.

As Monsey Scoop first reported in December 2023, the service area was shut down for upgrades, leaving Rockland County-area drivers without a convenient stop for fuel and restroom facilities. Initially slated for completion in July 2024, the reopening was delayed but finally took place on Monday night.

Located in Bergen County, the rest stop is named after the late actor James Gandolfini, best known for his role as mob boss Tony Soprano in the iconic HBO series The Sopranos, which was set in the region.

With renovations now complete, drivers can once again access the modernized amenities at this key location on the Parkway.
