On Thursday, a vital Emergency Preparedness Training Session focused on countering active threats was held in Eastern Rockland County. Organized by the Community Security Initiative, in partnership with the UJA Federation of New York, the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) of New York, and the Jewish Federation & Foundation of Rockland County, the event aimed to equip local Jewish institutions with the tools and knowledge needed to respond effectively to potential security threats.
The training featured presentations by Tom Koziak, Strategic Safety and Security Coordinator for Rockland County; Ethan Erlich, Regional Security Director for the Community Security Initiative; and Orangetown Police Chief Donald Butterworth. Each speaker shared critical insights into threat mitigation, emergency response coordination, and the importance of community preparedness.
The session was conducted in close collaboration with numerous law enforcement agencies, including the Rockland County Police Chiefs Association, Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, New York State Police Counter-Terrorism Intelligence Unit, and the FBI-Joint Terrorism Task Force. Attendees left better prepared and more connected to the network of support safeguarding Rockland’s Jewish community.
