The Town of Clarkstown welcomed the newest member of the Clarkstown Police Department’s K-9 Unit on Thursday, as Supervisor George Hoehmann and Police Chief James Fay officially introduced K-9 Argo to the community.
Argo, a one-year-old Labrador Retriever, is partnered with Clarkstown Police Officer O’Connell. The pair completed the Yonkers Police Department K-9 Patrol School in June, with Argo now certified in tracking and evidence recovery.
Later this month, Argo and Officer O’Connell are scheduled to attend the Orange County Sheriff’s Office explosive detection school, where Argo will receive additional specialized training.
As part of Thursday’s welcome, Argo’s name was added to the sign at the Congers Dog Park, which honors all Clarkstown Police K-9s as well as Corporal Megan Leavey and Canine Sgt. Rex.
Town officials congratulated Argo and Officer O’Connell and thanked them for their service to the Clarkstown community.
