The Clarkstown Police Department is congratulating Detective Tom Flanagan on his retirement after 26 years of dedicated service to the Clarkstown community.
Detective Flanagan began his career with the department in October 1999 as a patrol officer. Over the years, he built a reputation for professionalism and proactive policing. In 2014, he was assigned to the department’s Street Crime Unit, where he continued to distinguish himself through his strong work ethic and commitment to public safety. In 2018, he was promoted to detective and assigned to the Detective Bureau, further specializing as a crime scene specialist.
In addition to his patrol and investigative work, Flanagan served for 21 years as a sniper with the department’s Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT), demonstrating exceptional skill, focus, and dedication in high-risk situations. He was also a proud member of the Clarkstown Police Honor Guard, representing the department with dignity at numerous ceremonies and community events.
Before joining the Clarkstown Police Department, Flanagan honorably served in the United States Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division from 1985 to 1988.
Department officials expressed their gratitude for Detective Flanagan’s many contributions to both the department and the nation, wishing him a happy and healthy retirement as he closes out a distinguished career in law enforcement.
