The Clarkstown Police Department has announced the retirement of Police Officer Andrew Kelly, marking the end of a distinguished career in law enforcement and public service.
Officer Kelly joined the Clarkstown Police Department in July 2006, bringing with him an impressive background of service. Prior to his tenure in Clarkstown, he served in the United States Marine Corps, demonstrating unwavering dedication to his country. He also worked as a licensed paramedic in New York State and was previously a member of the Greenwich Police Department.
Over the years, Officer Kelly became a respected leader within the department. He was a vital member of the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) and served as a police sniper, roles in which he exhibited exceptional skill and commitment to protecting both his fellow officers and the community. His impact extended beyond active duty, as he dedicated a decade to training the next generation of officers as a drill instructor at the Rockland County Police Academy, where he emphasized discipline, integrity, and leadership.
In addition to his instructional work, Officer Kelly was a key figure in the Street Crime Unit, working diligently to enhance public safety. His dedication was not limited to law enforcement—he is also an accomplished Ironman and ultra runner, as well as a skilled bagpiper with the Rockland County Police Emerald Society.
Officer Kelly’s retirement marks the conclusion of an extraordinary career, leaving behind a lasting legacy of service, mentorship, and dedication to his community.
