As officers were en route to the scene, an off-duty Clarkstown Police detective provided vital information, describing a shirtless male with a gun involved in the altercation. The suspect, along with a female accomplice, fled the parking lot in a black BMW X3 after the unknown male ran into the store.
Using the detailed description, officers quickly located and stopped the suspect’s vehicle on Route 59 near Grandview Ave. in Nanuet. The occupants, identified as Adreon Clair, 26, and Ashley Clair, 26, both from Patterson, NJ, were detained for questioning.
During the investigation, an officer discovered a black semi-automatic handgun partially visible in a handbag on the front passenger side of the vehicle. The firearm, loaded with fifteen rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber, was secured by the officers.
Adreon Clair and Ashley Clair were arrested and transported to Clarkstown Police Headquarters for processing. They face the following charges:
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree (Felony)
- Unlawful Possession of a Certain Ammo-Feed Device (Misdemeanor)
The suspects were arraigned in the Town of Clarkstown Justice Court, where bail was set at $20,000 for Adreon Clair and $10,000 for Ashley Clair. They were subsequently transported to the Rockland County Jail.
