Clarkstown PD Arrests Pearl River Woman for Aggravated DWI After Hit-and-Run Incident

On Sunday, August 11, 2024, at approximately 9:15 PM, Clarkstown Police officers responded to a hit-and-run incident involving a blue Jeep Wrangler on S. Little Tor Rd. in New City. The vehicle reportedly sideswiped another car while making a turn onto S. Little Tor Rd. and then continued driving without stopping.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers observed the Jeep swerving dangerously into oncoming traffic, posing a severe threat to public safety. Despite efforts to stop the vehicle, the driver did not comply. In a bid to prevent further danger, officers positioned their patrol vehicle in front of the Jeep. The Jeep then collided with the rear of the patrol car, which successfully brought both vehicles to a stop. Fortunately, no injuries were reported by either the officers or the Jeep’s driver.

The driver, identified as a 69-year-old female resident of Pearl River, was immediately arrested at the scene. A breathalyzer test conducted at the station later revealed a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.24%, three times the legal limit.

The defendant now faces several charges, including:

  • Aggravated DWI (BAC of 0.18% or higher) – Misdemeanor
  • DWI 1st Offense – Misdemeanor
  • Leaving the Scene of an Accident – Violation
  • Additional traffic-related offenses

After processing, the defendant was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Clarkstown Justice Court later this month.
