The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has issued an important notice for Rockland County residents and commuters. On Tuesday, December 5, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., a temporary closure is expected to affect State Route 303 northbound. The closure will span from County Route 80, also known as Lake Road, to Lakeward Avenue within the Town of Clarkstown. This closure is necessary to facilitate critical catch basin repairs, weather permitting.
Commuters and travelers who frequently use State Route 303 in this area are advised to plan their routes accordingly. During the specified hours of closure, motorists can expect delays and are kindly requested to adhere to the posted detour signs.
The safety of both commuters and construction workers is of paramount importance during this project. Therefore, the NYSDOT urges all drivers to exercise caution and reduce their speed when passing through work zones. It’s important to note that fines for speeding violations in work zones will be doubled, serving as a strong deterrent to reckless driving. Additionally, individuals who accumulate two or more speeding violations in a work zone may face the suspension of their driver’s license.
