The Town of Clarkstown is advising residents and motorists that Veolia Water New York will begin a water main replacement project on West Nyack Road between Strawtown Road and West Nyack Way starting Friday, May 8. Preparatory work for the project began today.
Officials said local traffic will continue to have access to the post office, Town Park, and businesses located along West Nyack Road between Strawtown Road and Western Highway throughout the project.
However, West Nyack Road between Strawtown Road and West Nyack Way will be closed to through traffic daily from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. beginning May 8. Motorists attempting to reach Western Highway and Route 59 westbound via West Nyack Way will be detoured north to Klein Avenue via West Street.
The temporary detour is expected to remain in effect during work hours only through the week of May 11.
Town officials also noted that paving work on West Nyack Road is anticipated to begin shortly after the Veolia project is completed.
