Clarkstown Announces West Nyack Revitalization Project Phase II, Road Closure Set for March 3

The Town of Clarkstown has announced that Phase II of the West Nyack Revitalization Project is now fully underway. As part of this initiative, a section of West Nyack Road, located on the eastern side of the West Nyack Post Office, will be closed 24 hours a day beginning Monday, March 3, 2025.

The closure is necessary for essential improvements to stormwater management and flood mitigation in the area. Town officials emphasize that these upgrades are critical to reducing flood risks and improving overall drainage. While this portion of the road will remain closed until the project is completed, the West Nyack business district will remain fully accessible via designated detour routes.

In addition to infrastructure improvements, the revitalization project includes several enhancements to the hamlet’s business district. A significant portion of the existing utility wires will be moved underground, creating a cleaner and more modern streetscape. New sidewalks and streetlights will be installed to improve pedestrian access and safety. The project will also introduce expanded parking and improved traffic flow, making the area more convenient for residents and visitors. Aesthetic upgrades, including a new fountain and green space, will further enhance the district’s appeal.
