Clarkstown Announces Fireworks, Historic Drone Show for America 250 Celebration

Clarkstown is marking America’s 250th anniversary with two major community celebrations at Felix Festa Middle School in West Nyack this July, including the Hudson Valley’s first-ever patriotic drone show and the town’s annual Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza.

The festivities begin on Wednesday, July 1, with the annual Fireworks Extravaganza. The evening will feature a flying demonstration by the Rockland County Radio Control Club at 7:15 p.m., followed by a live performance by the band “Ladies of the 80s” before the fireworks display.

The celebration continues on Thursday, July 9, with a first-of-its-kind Patriotic Drone Show. The event kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with music, games, food trucks, and family activities. The renowned West Point Band will perform at 8:00 p.m., followed by a synchronized drone light show at approximately 9:15 p.m. featuring 400 drones creating patriotic images in the night sky. The show will also include a custom design submitted by the winner of the Town’s High School Drone Show Design Competition.

“This groundbreaking event marks a first for our region and promises to be a memorable experience for residents and visitors of all ages,” said Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann. “Bring your family, bring your lawn chairs, and join us as we celebrate America’s past, present, and future under the stars!”

Free shuttle buses will operate for both events from Germonds Park and BOCES/Jesse J. Kaplan School between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Limited parking will be available at Laurel Plains Elementary School. Town officials encourage residents to attend both celebrations as Clarkstown joins communities across the nation in commemorating America’s 250th anniversary.
