Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann and the Town Board have announced that Tilcon New York Inc. has generously donated the historic Storms Tavern property to the Town of Clarkstown — a major milestone in preserving one of the community’s most iconic landmarks.
Located at 407 Storms Road in Valley Cottage, Storms Tavern dates back to the 18th century and stands as one of Clarkstown’s most recognizable and historically significant structures. The building has long symbolized the town’s colonial heritage and deep-rooted history.
The official signing of the transfer documents was attended by Town Historian Larry Kigler, Joe Barbieri from the New City Library, and Tilcon Vice President of Finance Graig Aimone.
Supervisor Hoehmann praised Tilcon for its generosity, noting that the donation ensures the preservation of this cherished local landmark for future generations. The town plans to evaluate future uses for the property, with a strong focus on historic preservation and public accessibility.
Further details about the Town’s plans for the site will be announced as discussions progress.
