Chestnut Ridge Unveils Brand New Footbridge and Pathway, Thanking Town Of Ramapo Leadership for Their Support

A long-awaited infrastructure improvement has officially transformed two previously disconnected neighborhoods into one seamless community. Thanks to a collaborative effort between the Village of Chestnut Ridge and the Town of Ramapo, a brand new walking path and footbridge now provide residents with a safe and scenic connection between Haller Crescent and Jean Lane.

On Tuesday, Ramapo Town Supervisor Michael Specht, Ramapo Superintendent of Highways Fred Brinn, Chestnut Ridge Deputy Mayor Chaim Rose, and Trustee Shmuli Fromowitz visited the newly completed project, recognizing the impact it has on the local community.

For years, residents sought a way to traverse the wooded area owned by the Town of Ramapo, which is bisected by the Pinebrook Creek. The waterway, at times unpredictable and difficult to navigate, posed a significant barrier between the neighborhoods. In response, local officials spearheaded the construction of a sturdy footbridge, replacing the makeshift wooden pallets some residents had previously used to cross the brook.

In addition to the bridge, a completely new walking path was built, enhancing accessibility and providing a beautiful space for families, friends, and neighbors to come together.

Deputy Mayor Chaim Rose and Trustee Shmuli Fromowitz told Monsey Scoop that they are incredibly grateful for the support and partnership of Ramapo Supervisor Michael Specht, Mona Montal, and Superintendent of Highways Fred Brinn, whose efforts were instrumental in making the project a reality.

“This is a true improvement for the community,” said Deputy Mayor Rose. “It’s a testament to the camaraderie and strong working relationship we share with the Town of Ramapo that we were able to make this happen. This project brings people together, making our village even more connected and vibrant.”

Trustee Shmuli Fromowitz echoed that sentiment, telling Monsey Scoop, “This new pathway and bridge are a game-changer for our community. It’s amazing to see how a simple infrastructure project can have such a major impact on people’s daily lives. Families can now walk freely between neighborhoods, kids have a safe route, and it truly enhances the sense of unity in our village. We deeply appreciate the partnership with the Town of Ramapo and look forward to future collaborations that will continue benefiting our residents.”

Ramapo Town Supervisor Michael Specht also praised the project, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the town and local villages. “The Village of Chestnut Ridge is an essential part of the Town of Ramapo, and we are always looking for ways to enhance the quality of life for all of our residents,” Supervisor Specht told Monsey Scoop. “This walking path and footbridge will provide safer and more convenient access between neighborhoods, and I commend Deputy Mayor Chaim Rose, Trustee Shmuli Fromowitz, and the entire Chestnut Ridge administration for their leadership in bringing this vision to life. I also want to thank Superintendent Fred Brinn and his dedicated team for their hard work in making this project a reality.”

As the footbridge and pathway open for public use, community members can now enjoy a safer and more accessible route between neighborhoods—an achievement that underscores the power of teamwork and dedication to the well-being of local families.
