Mayor Sam Presti, Trustees Shmuli Fromovitz and Chaim Rose, and Village Justice Walter Sebastian were re-elected on March 18 to serve four-year terms in the Village of Chestnut Ridge. Their new terms officially began this past Monday.
The formal swearing-in was conducted earlier in the week by Rockland County Clerk Donna Silberman. On Wednesday night, a ceremonial swearing-in was held during the Village Board meeting at the Chestnut Ridge Village Hall. The oath of office was administered by Rockland District Attorney Judge Tom Walsh, with Senator Bill Weber participating in the ceremony by holding the Bible.
Senator Weber traveled from Albany specifically to attend the event and returned early Thursday morning, highlighting his ongoing engagement with the Chestnut Ridge community and leadership.
Trustee Chaim Rose was also sworn in during the ceremony and was subsequently reappointed by Mayor Presti to serve another term as Deputy Mayor of the Village of Chestnut Ridge, continuing his leadership for the upcoming year.
During the same meeting, the Village Board voted to abolish the Architectural Review Board (ARB), one of the last remaining ARBs in Rockland County. Many neighboring villages either never had such a board or had previously disbanded theirs.
The event was attended by a number of prominent community leaders and officials, including District Attorney Judge Tom Walsh, Senator Bill Weber, Chief Assistant District Attorney Patrick Frawley, Rockland County Legislators Joel Friedman and Jesse Malowitz, Spring Valley Trustee Sruly Eisenbach, East Ramapo School Board President Shimmy Rose, Finkelstein Library Trustee and Spring Valley mayoral candidate Darnett Davis, Detective Lieutenant Michael Duggan from the District Attorney’s Office.
The evening reflected a strong sense of civic pride and unity as officials and community members gathered to celebrate the start of a new term in village leadership.
