An MVA occurred Monday at approximately 12:45 p.m. at the Garden State Parkway off-ramp onto Red Schoolhouse Road, after a suspected intoxicated driver sped through the Spring Valley High School parking lot and continued recklessly before crashing into another vehicle.
Sources tell Monsey Scoop that the Spring Valley Police were following the vehicle but had not initiated a traffic stop when the driver lost control and collided with another car. The suspect then fled the scene on foot, prompting an extensive search.
Emergency personnel from Hatzoloh EMS, Faist EMS, the South Spring Valley and Monsey Fire Departments, NY State Police, and both Spring Valley and Ramapo Police Departments arrived at the scene. Injuries were reported.
At approximately 1:25 p.m., the suspect was located hiding behind the South Spring Valley Fire Department on Red Schoolhouse Road and was taken into custody by the Ramapo Police Department. The New York State Police later took over custody and transported the suspect to the Rockland County Jail.
