On Wednesday, Chesed 24/7 held a special ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the grand opening of its brand-new Chesed Room at Good Samaritan Hospital. The expanded and upgraded space will provide critical comfort and amenities to patients and their families, especially in time for the upcoming Yom Tov Pesach.
During the event, Chesed 24/7 honored Dr. Mary Leahy, the hospital’s former CEO and the newly appointed Rockland County Health Commissioner. Dr. Leahy, who played a key role in supporting Chesed 24/7’s work during her tenure as head of the hospital, was presented with a special award in recognition of her dedication and partnership.
Also highlighted were Town of Ramapo Supervisor Michael Specht and his Chief of Staff, Mona Montal, who played instrumental roles in helping bring the new Chesed Room project to fruition. Their commitment helped ensure the creation of a spacious, modern room that includes a private bathroom and many other conveniences—offering significantly more than the previous location.
The ribbon-cutting was attended by numerous elected officials, community leaders, law enforcement representatives, and other dignitaries, all showing their support for the vital work Chesed 24/7 continues to do for the community.
