On Tuesday evening, Chaverim of Rockland’s Search and Rescue team, in coordination with the Ramapo Police Department, successfully located and rescued a lost hiker in the wooded area near Lime Kiln Road in Wesley Hills.
The man had gone for a walk in the woods but took a wrong turn off a trail. As darkness fell, he found himself disoriented and unable to find his way back. With minimal battery life and limited cell service, he managed to contact Chaverim of Rockland, widely known for their expertise in locating missing individuals.
Chaverim quickly coordinated with the Ramapo Police, who dispatched K-9 units to assist in the search. The hiker remained on the line with 911 as authorities worked to pinpoint his exact location.
Thanks to the swift response and coordinated efforts of Chaverim’s skilled volunteers and the Ramapo Police Department, the man was found in safe condition and escorted out of the woods.
