Despite the conclusion of the major snowstorm on Sunday, Chaverim of Rockland members continue responding nonstop, working around the clock to assist residents across Rockland County.
From early Sunday morning through Monday evening, Chaverim handled a record-breaking 3,059 calls, marking one of the highest call volumes ever recorded during a single storm in the organization’s history. Calls have continued to come in as cleanup and recovery efforts remain underway.
Throughout the storm and its aftermath, Chaverim volunteers responded to a wide range of emergencies and assistance requests, including vehicles stuck in deep snow, transportation needs, flat tires, boosts, and lockouts, as well as an unusually high number of calls related to frozen and burst pipes caused by frigid temperatures.
In addition, Chaverim played a critical role in transporting chosson and kallah, family members, and guests to and from wedding halls, ensuring simchos were able to take place despite hazardous road conditions. Volunteers also assisted seniors and families requiring urgent transportation during the storm.
Operations were supported by a fully staffed dispatch center, with approximately 25 dispatchers working in rotating shifts to manage the overwhelming call volume, coordinate units, and ensure rapid response throughout Rockland County.
Through the storm—and beyond—Chaverim of Rockland members remained on duty for extended hours, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to the community during one of the most demanding weather events of the season.

very nice!!! BUT WHY ARE PEOPLE OUT IN THE SNOW!!!
If the towns would clean the roads there wouldn’t be many people stuck!!!!
If the towns would clean the roads , there wouldn’t so many cars stuck!! The school busses wouldn’t have so many issues picking up and dropping off the kids in appropriate places. The roads are so messed up more than 24 hours after the snow stopped falling!!
WOW it’s a huge amount of calls, Kol hakavod!!
