Early Thursday morning, Chaverim of Rockland Nightwatch volunteers responded to an electric vehicle stranded on the New York State Thruway near Exit 15A due to a dead battery. The driver, who did not have a smartphone, was unable to seek assistance or pay for charging on his own.
Volunteers spent two hours operating a portable charger to restore power to the vehicle. They then escorted the driver to a nearby charging station and helped complete the payment through an app. The dedicated team returned home around 6:30 a.m. after ensuring the driver was safely back on the road.
