Camp Fun Welcomes Annual Visit from Elected Officials, Law Enforcement, and First Responders

Camp Fun was once again buzzing with energy and excitement as a group of elected officials, law enforcement leaders, and emergency personnel made a special visit to the campgrounds on Tuesday morning— a tradition Monsey Scoop has proudly covered for the third consecutive summer. (Read our past coverage from 2024 and 2023).

A dramatic motorcade of police vehicles, motorcycles, and mounted officers rolled through the entrance, greeted by lines of enthusiastic campers waving flags and singing patriotic songs.

Among the dignitaries were Ramapo Town Supervisor Michael Specht, Senator Bill Weber, Ramapo Police Chief Daniel Hyman, and members of the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, Monsey Fire Department, and Rockland Hatzoloh, along with additional local officers and emergency responders.

The program featured speeches from several guests, highlighting the camp’s vibrant atmosphere and strong sense of civic pride. One standout moment came when it was revealed that Mordy Becker — currently Senator Weber’s Deputy Chief of Staff and Communications Director — was once a camper at Camp Fun. Becker took the stage to share a few words, receiving an enthusiastic ovation.

Ramapo Police Chief Dany Hyman also addressed the crowd and introduced Officer Jullaine Franklin from the Ramapo Police Community Policing Unit — a familiar and respected figure in the Monsey community.

Although Assemblyman Aron Wieder was unable to attend due to scheduling conflicts, he expressed his strong support for the event and sent his regards to the campers and staff.

After the formal program, the visitors spent time touring the campgrounds, mingling with campers and staff, and joining in the lively spirit that defines summer at Camp Fun.
