Burn Ban Issued for Rockland County and Surrounding Areas

Effective immediately, a burn ban has been issued for Rockland County and several surrounding areas due to an increased risk of wildfires. This measure comes ahead of the annual statewide burn ban set to begin on March 16.

Prohibited activities: Residential brush burning is strictly prohibited in the following counties:
Nassau, Suffolk, Richmond, Kings, Queens, Bronx, New York, Westchester, Putnam, Orange, Rockland, Dutchess, and Ulster.

The statewide residential brush burning ban will remain in effect starting March 16, reinforcing efforts to prevent wildfires and protect communities.

Residents are urged to comply with these regulations and take necessary precautions to reduce fire hazards.
