Brooklyn Duo Arrested in Nyack with Help of Orangetown Police Following Multi-Agency Pursuit and Discovery of Illegal Weapons

On the evening of November 6, at approximately 7:35 p.m., New York State troopers from the Tarrytown barracks observed a 2021 Nissan Sentra traveling northbound on Interstate 87, near Exit 7 in Ardsley, allegedly committing numerous traffic violations. When troopers attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to pull over, leading to a brief pursuit along I-87.

The pursuit, which spanned several miles and lasted only a few minutes, was ultimately terminated for safety reasons. However, the Nissan was soon located by the Orangetown Police Department on Route 59 in Nyack. Officers from the Tarrytown barracks arrived shortly afterward and identified the driver as Selena Lasco, 26, and her passenger, Javed Duncan, 23, both residents of Brooklyn, NY.

Lasco was taken into custody without incident, while Duncan attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended. During the investigation, officers discovered two illegal firearms, a stolen license plate, and a forged document in the vehicle.

Both Lasco and Duncan face a series of charges, including felony weapons possession and multiple other offenses.

Charges against Selena Lasco include:

  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, 5th Degree
  • Possession of a Forged Instrument, 2nd Degree (D felony)
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon, 2nd Degree (C felony)
  • Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, 3rd Degree
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Obstructing Governmental Administration, 2nd Degree
  • Multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law Infractions

Charges against Javed Duncan include:

  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, 5th Degree
  • Possession of a Forged Instrument, 2nd Degree (D felony)
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon, 2nd Degree (C felony)
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon, 3rd Degree (D felony)
  • False Personation
  • Criminal Impersonation, 2nd Degree
  • Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, 3rd Degree
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Obstructing Governmental Administration, 2nd Degree

Both suspects are expected to appear in local court on a future date. This incident highlights the ongoing collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies to ensure public safety and combat illegal possession of firearms and other criminal activities in the region.
