BRIDGES held a ribbon-cutting for its new Sensory Room on the 4th floor of the Palisades Center Mall, next to Target. Attendees included NYS Assembly members Aron Wieder and Pat Carroll, and County Executive Ed Day.
The region’s first sensory room in a major shopping center, it offers a calming space for those with sensory processing challenges, addressing the overload from a mall’s sights and sounds. CEO Carlos Martinez welcomed guests, saying, “This is about creating an inclusive community.”
The event featured a ribbon-cutting and tours of the room, which includes adjustable lighting and quiet zones. Officials praised the initiative as a step toward accessibility, with Wieder calling it “a new standard for public spaces.” The Sensory Room promises to enhance the mall experience for all visitors.
