BREAKING -UPDATE: Potential Link Between Albany Attempted Homicide and Thruway Shooting

A recent development suggests a possible connection between an attempted homicide on Wednesday afternoon in Albany and a later incident on the New York State Thruway involving a New York State Police (NYSP) trooper as Monsey Scoop reported earlier.

According to Chief Hawkins, from the Albany Police department they received reports of shots fired in the area of 400 Hudson Avenue at around 1:03 p.m. Police were on the scene within minutes and located the victim, who sustained a gunshot wound to the head area.

The victim of the shooting on Hudson Avenue was treated on scene. They are currently in critical condition at the Albany Medical Center.

Police interviewed witnesses and got a description of the vehicle. The crime analysis center identified the vehicle and license plate and surveillance observed the vehicle heading southbound on I-87.

A “Be On the Lookout” was issued to New York State Police. State Troopers located the vehicle at around 2:55 p.m. on I-87 in the Town of Ramapo and initiated a traffic stop. A gunfire exchange occurred, resulting in the suspect’s death.
