At approximately 4:20AM Thursday morning, two masked men broke into a home in the Viola section of Monsey through an unlocked window — while the family slept just feet away on the second floor.
The intruders, ransacked the home and made off with high-value items including expensive pocketbooks, a briefcase, a tallis and tefillin, and the family’s keys. Before fleeing, they brazenly stole one of the family’s cars a BMW.
The homeowner, still shaken, told Monsey Scoop the experience was “terrifying” and could have easily “ended differently.” Despite the fear, the resident expressed strong confidence in the Ramapo Police to solve the case.
Ramapo Police and Chaverim of Rockland are jointly investigating the chilling incident. Authorities stressed that this should serve as a serious wake-up call for all residents to secure their homes.
“This is a stark reminder to keep your doors and windows locked at all times,” officials said.
Anyone with information or who notices suspicious activity is urged to contact the Ramapo Police Department at 845-357-2400 and Chaverim of Rockland immediately at 845-371-6333.
