Vital One Medical Transport has announced the miraculous recovery and homecoming of Eli, a young boy who drowned in Suzanne Lake during Sukkos.
Nine months ago, Eli was playing with his brother when he fell into the lake while trying to retrieve a ball. He was submerged for an alarming 32-35 minutes, leading to severe oxygen deprivation in his brain. The swift and coordinated efforts of first responders, including Rockland Hatzolah, Chaverim of Rockland, the Ramapo Police Department, Monsey Fire Department, and four Level 4 Paramedics, were crucial in rescuing him from the freezing waters and administering life-saving CPR and interventions as Monsey Scoop reported back then.
Eli received extensive medical care at Bon Secours Charity Health System, Inc., Westchester Medical Center, and Children’s Specialized Hospital under the care of Dr. Moshe Kupferstein. After his initial recovery, Eli was flown to South Florida by VitalOne® 1-800-MedEvac, where he underwent Brain Enhancement Neuro Modalities, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, IV treatment, E-Stim treatment, and various forms of neurological, physical, occupational, and speech therapy, with the assistance of Hatzalah South Florida.
Rivky Sprei MSN, APRN, FNP, played a significant role in Eli’s ongoing care, preparing him for stem cell treatment with the renowned Dr. Joshua Hare of Longeveron Inc. Now, after months of rigorous therapy and treatment, Eli has returned home to New York.
His recovery has been supported by a dedicated team, including Dr. Peter Fox, Bracha Bucholz, Conrad Smiles, and Treasure Caldwell. VitalOne® 1-800-MedEvac expressed gratitude for being part of Eli’s extraordinary journey towards a full recovery.
