Monsey Scoop regrets to inform you of the petira of Reb Shmuel (Sam) Klaver Z”L, formerly of Pomona and Flatbush, beloved husband of Pnina, who was niftar at the age of 71.
A gifted professional drummer, Shmuel was a highly sought after musician who performed with the Ruach, Neginah, and Neshoma Orchestras, bringing joy to countless families at thousands of weddings throughout the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. He also taught drums privately to many students and is widely credited with teaching and influencing, directly and indirectly, many of the well known Jewish drummers who followed in his footsteps.
Beyond his musical talents, Reb Shmuel devoted his life to Jewish education and outreach. He was a beloved NCSY youth leader, inspiring countless Jewish teenagers to explore and embrace their heritage. He studied at Yeshiva University and Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim, and later served as a Jewish Studies teacher in several New York area day schools, where he influenced generations of students. He also served for many years as the Baal Shacharis and Baal Tokeiah at the Orthodox shul in Quincy, Massachusetts, where his parents were pillars of the local Orthodox Jewish community.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Pnina, their children, grandchildren, and extended family.
The Levaya will take place Tuesday at 7:00 PM, graveside at Brick Church Cemetery, 221 Brick Church Road, Spring Valley.

Baruch Dayan Emes. Reb Shmuel was my 3rd grade Rebbe in Hillel Academy in Passaic in the early 80’s. He was an amazing Rebbe, really was. He will be missed.
