Monsey Scoop regrets to inform its readers of the petira of Reb Baruch (Jonathan B.) Samuels, Z”L, who was niftar suddenly at the age of 48. The news has brought deep sorrow to his family, friends, talmidim, and the many lives he touched through his years in chinuch.
Originally from Los Angeles, The Niftar Z”L devoted his life to Torah education. He served for many years as a rebbi at Valley Torah, where he inspired countless talmidim with his warmth, dedication, and unwavering commitment to Torah and yiras Shamayim.
A few years ago, he relocated to Monsey. He later became the principal of the elementary school at Breuer’s in Washington Heights, where he was widely admired by students, parents, and fellow mechanchim for his leadership, kindness, and devotion to every child.
The levaya will take place on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Community Synagogue of Monsey, located at 89 West Maple Avenue.

Heartbreaking. ברוך דיין האמת.
Rabbi Samuels and his family had such a profound impact on my life when he was part of the Kollel in Cape Town, South Africa and I will always be grateful to him. One of the nicest people I’ve ever met, a תלמיד חכם and just a wonderful, kind mentsch.
May HaShem provide comfort to Elisheva and family as only He can and may they know no more צרות.
